What Is Sig Doing To Fix The P365's Problems

I've had a SIG SAUER P365 on or nearly my person since they first dropped dorsum in early 2018. Since then, they have become 1 of the hottest and almost desirable pistols for curtained carry. I take put a lot of rounds through that P365, recently passing the fifteen,000 round mark.

Let'south dive into a P365 that's accumulated a round count yours will probably never run into.

I have to say that I really, really prefer the 40 grip module. While I carry the gun with the standard short grip, I have shot the majority of the rounds put through this pistol using the XL grip.

I have one of the early on 40 modules, so I had to cut out the notches for the transmission safety by hand. That has never led to a problem, so I'g non going to elaborate on that any more here.

TL:DR version: I have never had an issue with the pistol. In fact, I accept even so to take a single malfunction. That may come as a surprise to some of you considering the corporeality of negative press the pistol received early, but those issues really only existed in a literal handful of guns and were immediately remedied. Still somehow the myth seems to persist and I promise that upon reading this might alter some minds about this handy piddling blaster.

Why would I bother to fire 15,000 through a carry gun? Beginning, because I could and I had the ammo to burn down over the years. Nearly people will only put a fraction of that total through their carry gun, and that'southward fine. Just to know know that the P365 will easily handle that kind of shooting volume is a confidence builder.

Now, you've probably read my earlier M17 review at 25K rounds. That gun is pretty much like-new except for some general habiliment and holster marks. The P365 has worn a bit more, likely due to it beingness actively carried close to my trunk with greater exposure to sweat and oestrus. I never carried the M17 IWB, simply that is my primary fashion to conduct the P365.

The terminate is durable, simply it has taken on a considerable amount of surface wear. Too, the grip modules have taken on a significant amount of smoothing and scuffs.

Internally the trigger has broken in as well. Information technology is now a petty lighter, only is at the same time slightly spongier. It has a distinct two-stage feel though the break is not equally make clean as it used to exist. I take a flat trigger installed in it and it was put in before the pistol was even fired, then it is non something that has any influence as far as this review goes.

The recoil springs are withal very strong and the slide shows no delays in lockup or slowed travel. The bound assembly is well designed and very stiff. I recollect that this is a contributing cistron in why the gun has washed so well as far as reliability is concerned.

The internals are laid out in a compact, efficient mode that somehow leaves room for droppings to exist filtered out. The principal outcome with minor handguns is that they are occasionally made too tight, and uncomplicated things like humid pocket lint can cause malfunctions.

This gun was not ever treated special in the course of my shooting with it, though it was non abused. It was regularly carried for weeks and then shot with the ammo in information technology. A large cloud of lint would erupt and then it would be business as usual. I did clean it every then often, normally every one-half yr or so.

Accuracy has too not changed much, if at all. The P365 is a very accurate blueprint that is really only handicapped by how small-scale it is. It has routinely been able to print 2.5" groups at 25M, merely I typically shoot it closer, probably 10M or in. On newspaper the groups from the bench are the same. I haven't noticed a discernible change with the mill butt and at that place isn't fifty-fifty much of a change with an aftermarket barrel, either.

While I have several barrels, slides, and grip modules, my preferred method of behave is the standard slide, factory barrel, and Twoscore grip module. I carry this in a BlackPoint IWB holster. Accurateness and speed of shots goes way up for me with the XL module, and while it is not every bit compact overall, it is all the same just every bit easy to conceal with normal clothing.

The gun in this configuration handles like a full-size pistol while being light and easy to accept on my person. The ammo that I very much prefer to use with the P365 is the Hornady Critical Duty 135gr +P. This is a chip of a snappier load in the short module, but it is awesome in the 40 version.

So what would I consider a negative to my time with the P365? I take to say that I don't accept any meaning complaints considering I can just swap out parts on the gun in seconds. It has proven to be reliable and accurate, which is simply about all I can ask from a bear gun.

I will say that the P365 takes some fourth dimension to master as opposed to a larger gun like the M17. I think that the learning curve has more to practice with recoil management than accuracy, which is a big plus to the design, and the XL module solves most of those issues and cuts training time down.

Having shot more in my gun than most of you will shoot in yours in a lifetime, I can say that with normal maintenance it will last you a very long fourth dimension. It volition likely wear more in your holster than it will being fired, and so keep that in mind when you lot think information technology is too worn out. Appearances tin can exist deceiving.
